Tritton Copper Operations Energy Supply Study

The Tritton Copper Operations is a long-life copper operation on the land of the Ngemba/Ngiyampaa, Wangaaypuwan and Wayilwan people; near the towns of Nyngan and Cobar in central New South Wales.

It commenced production in 2005 and its operations feature an underground mining complex feeding 1.8 million tonne per annum through a conventional processing plant.

Copper concentrate is exported globally.

Aeris Resources requested 786 Fuel explore power generation options at a concept level for its Tritton and Murrawombie sites.

We were engaged to reduce the mines’ cost of electricity, reduce its carbon intensity and potentially eliminate the requirement for a transmission upgrade.

Our team analysed different combinations of power supply that consisted of:

  • grid connections
  • battery systems
  • diesel
  • solar
  • wind.

786 Fuel also recommended a selection of desirable layouts for these options.
